Jayne Sherwood Biography

Jayne has gained a BEd (Hons) in Primary Education at Newman College in Birmingham in 1984 where her main subject area was literacy and drama.

Her first teaching post was in an inner city primary school, in Birmingham, where she taught reception class. Her professional development led her to the post of English co-coordinator, where she was responsible for the planning and development of literacy throughout the school curriculum.

Experience of FE/HE came when she worked on a city project which encouraged the use of the Internet in an Early Years environment. The project had close links with a local university where students following a Health Studies programme, worked with the children in school via the internet.

In 2001, she moved into Further Education to work at Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College in Birmingham City Centre, where she worked as a tutor/NVQ assessor and member of the delivery team planning and implementing sessions, which suited the diversity and cultural beliefs of the learners on Early Years Education programmes.

In 2003 she moved out of Birmingham and worked for a teaching agency, contracted to Halton College where she delivered programmes in Early Years Education.

In June 2003 she took the opportunity to progress her career further by launching her own business called JP Training.
